Pentagon Wants Mobile Phone That Can Recognize Faces

Demands on the battlefield increasingly diverse demands U.S. Department of Defense to provide the best equipment for its personnel.

One technology that wants to develop a smartphone that is capable of recognizing faces. But not only that, the device is also required to recognize fingerprints and eye.

For smooth out its plan, fresh funds amounting to U.S. $ 3 million has been prepared by the Pentagon. While that is believed to develop a technology called 'Smart Mobile Identity System' is a company called AOptik.

"They (Pentagon-red.) has asked us, based on what they have seen on our products, to make some of the needs specific to the U.S. Department of Defense," said Chuck Yort, VP Identity Solution AOptix.

But apparently that will be produced by AOptik not a smartphone but a tool that can be applied to any kind of smartphone. The existence of the tool will allow a smartphone to scan a face, fingerprints to the eye.

By doing so, to find out information about the enemy he did not recognize, military personnel only need to scan the body that have been determined to be sent to U.S. military data centers to immediately be identified.
